After an accident during the first stage of the Volta ao Algarve, Tiesj Benoot chose not to start the Time Trial this Saturday afternoon. The information was confirmed by his team, Visma- Lease a Bike, on social media.
Benoot focuses on recovery for the Classics in Flanders
After discussions with Benoot, the team decided to give the rider more time to recover before the start of the opening weekend at the Flanders Classics. With Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne in mind, Benoot now has more time for some rest.
Benoot has already had to postpone the start of his season, originally planned for the Vuelta a Murcia, due to a coronavirus infection during training. Last year he was best in Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne.
