World Tour cyclist suspended due to abnormalities in Biological Passport; team issues official note and removes athlete

The International Cycling Union, UCI, has provisionally suspended Franck Bonnamour. The French Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale cyclist presented abnormalities (Adverse Analytical Sample) in his biological passport.

UCI did not provide details

The UCI did not provide further details about the case. His current employer, Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale, announced the temporary suspension of its rider.

“The team was made aware of the UCI’s decision to provisionally suspend Franck Bonnamour. This decision is based on checks carried out prior to his arrival on January 1, 2023. In this context, and while the UCI procedure is ongoing, the team suspends Bonnamour immediately. As a team, we have strict ethical rules.”

Bonnamour, 28, is in his second season for Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale. Before that he raced for B&B Hotels-KTM and Arkéa-Samsic.
