The Tour des Alpes-Maritimes was won this Sunday by Benoît Cosnefroy. The Frenchman from Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale won in the sprint after the climb of Montée de la Sine at the end of the competition.
Second place went to Aurélien Paret-Peintre, Cosnefroy’s teammate, and third place was taken by Vincenzo Albanese from Arkéa-B&B Hotels.
Ethan Vernon (Israel-Premier Tech) was also highlighted in the competition by winning the sprint phase on Saturday. However, despite his efforts, he was unable to overcome the challenge for victory in the final round of the championship.
An exciting circuit
The last stage of the race repeated the previous year’s format, with a steep climb up the Montée de la Sine (4.2 km with a gradient of 4.5%). This was the last mountain of the day, but the route also included other challenges, such as the steep climb up the Col d’Éze.
The final winner, Benoît Cosnefroy, showed a solid performance throughout the race. Not only did he manage to remain among the leading group in the various stages, he also demonstrated superior sprinting ability, which allowed him to outperform the other participants and secure the final victory.
