According to an article from the Norwegian newspaper Landevei, former time trial world champion Tobias Foss still doesn’t know his team for the year 2024. All of this is due to the uncertainty surrounding Remco Evenepoel’s departure from Jumbo-Visma.
As a result, the Norwegian press states that the possibility of the Belgian eventually leaving Soudal Quick-Step for INEOS is the main reason why the Norwegian has not yet signed with any team for 2024: “Probably due to the pending mega transfer of Remco Evenepoel to INEOS Grenadiers.”
Landevei suggests a connection between Foss’s potential future and Evenepoel’s. According to them, the Norwegian would join INEOS as a possible luxury domestique for Remco.
INEOS has been releasing several cyclists in recent days (Tao, Tulett, Martinez), and some analysts interpret this as creating space in the budget to potentially make a move for Evenepoel.
What is certain is that, until today, this remains speculation. What we can say is that Remco Evenepoel will remain with Soudal Quick-Step as long as no one triggers his release clause (if it exists). So, let’s wait and see what happens with Tobias Foss, who hasn’t had a standout season with Jumbo and appears to be genuinely leaving Jumbo-Visma.
