Remco Evenepoel continues with his preparations for the 2024 season, with a special focus on the Tour de France and winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games.
After participating in the concentration held by the Soudal Quick-Step team in Alicante in recent weeks, Evenepoel headed to the Galleria del Vento at the Milan Polytechnic this Monday. There, he subjected the S-Works Specialized equipment, which he will use in competitions, to testing, as well as the Castelli clothing in the colors of the current world time trial champion.
Coach reinforces importance of testing
In statements made by Soudal Quick-Step coach Koen Pelgrim, he can assess Evenepoel’s experience in the wind tunnel.
“The time we spent in the wind tunnel and the data we received are incalculable. When competing in Time Trials at Remco’s level, marginal gains can make a big difference.”
“Remco has a great position on the bike and Castelli makes excellent Time Trial equipment, so rather than making big changes, we are tweaking the equipment we already have,” said the coach.
Solutions for other cyclists don’t work for Evenepoel
Joining Koen in the session were Castelli brand manager Steve Smith and racing division manager Alvin Nordell: “Remco is a unique challenge because its position is so compact and aerodynamic that most solutions that work for other drivers do not offer the same result with Remco”, concluded Alvin.
