There was much talk about the internal leadership battle within Jumbo-Visma during the Vuelta a España 2023, with some even suggesting that Primoz Roglic might leave the team. However, the Slovenian himself laughed off such conversations.
“No, not really,” Roglic revealed to the British channel GCN on Friday when asked about the rumors surrounding his future. “It’s good stuff for me. It means someone wants me, and that means I’m doing well.”
Criticism over support for Sepp Kuss
Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard faced a lot of criticism for their actions during the past week, as the duo ended up attacking their own teammate, Sepp Kuss, who was wearing the red jersey. However, in the 18th stage, the pair joined forces to try to secure a victory for Kuss.
“Everyone has their own opinions and their own ways of doing things, but I definitely support Sepp,” says Roglic. “Everyone should comment on how to do their own things, but I’m happy. I try to stay focused to finish. He’s a super nice guy. He’s one of my close friends. We’re giving it all to help him finish,” concludes the Slovenian.
