On January 4th, Orbea was announced as a bicycle sponsor for Lotto Dstny. However, it was only on the 11th that photos of the bicycles were released.
As you would expect, the team will have a climbing bike and an aero bike. The team will have access to both models, although it is likely that the Orca Aero will take over most of the duties.
Orbea Orca for climbers
Team climbers will have the Orbea Orca at their disposal, with a total weight of 6.7kg, below the UCI minimum weight limit (6.8kg). Although specifically designed to be as light as possible, it is not as common as before for bikes to weigh less than the lower limit.
Orbea’s own wheels equip the bikes
Lotto Dstny bikes come equipped with wheels supplied directly by Orbea, through its recently launched Oquo series. The team will have wheel options available with 57mm rims, as well as 45mm and 35mm depths.
This milestone represents the debut of the brand’s own wheels in WorldTour competitions. With an estimated price of €2300, the wheels are excellent value for money.
Orca Aero
The Orca Aero model must be used on flat stages. The bike features a traditional aerodynamic design.
For those who liked it, a team replica of both bikes is being made available directly on the Orbea website, they are the Orca M10i LTD replica, priced at around €14,500 and the Orca Aero M10i LTD, starting at €12,000.
Group of parts
The new bikes have a group of established parts, from Shimano Dura-ace Di2, with an FSA Powerbox K-Force Team Edition crankset, both bikes use a set of Oquo wheels, with different profiles depending on the model.
