Imanol Erviti will take on a new role as the sports manager of the INEOS Grenadiers team, starting on January 1. While rumors had been circulating for some time, the official confirmation was announced by the British team itself on Wednesday. The 40-year-old former Spanish cyclist ended his career at the end of the last season.
Nineteen years at Movistar
Throughout his nineteen-year career, Imanol Erviti competed for the Movistar team and its predecessors. Although primarily playing a support role, the 40-year-old Spanish cyclist also achieved three significant victories. His accomplishments include stage wins in the Vuelta a España in 2008 and 2010.
In the last years of his professional career, Erviti took on a crucial role as a road captain. Additionally, his ability to express himself fluently in English will be a valuable asset in integrating with the international elements of the INEOS Grenadiers.
