The riders of the Groupama-FDJ team will compete in 2024 using bicycles from the Italian brand Wilier Triestina. The French team announced the partnership with the Italian bicycle manufacturer on Wednesday. In October, it was revealed that the bicycle brand Lapierre would end its collaboration after 22 seasons with Groupama-FDJ.
Lapierre will remain with the women’s team
The enduring partnership between Lapierre and Groupama-FDJ was one of the longest in the professional peloton. However, the collaboration with the FDJ-Suez women’s team will continue. Team manager Marc Madiot stated:
“We will always remember our great performances with Lapierre bikes. Like any company, Lapierre needs to make strategic choices. The end of this collaboration is a reflection of that, and we respect that decision.”
Bicycles for 2024
The cyclists of the French team will use the Filante SLR next year, with a special shade. The Turbine SLR is the bicycle for time trials. “It is an honor to announce that Wilier Triestina has joined our family as an official partner,” said team boss Madiot, pleased.
“This is the beginning of a great adventure. We are talking about a prestigious Italian company that has left its mark on the history of cycling. The goal is to achieve joint development and use our expertise to take a new step. The approach of Wilier Triestina really appeals to me. We will write a new chapter together.”
