Ekoi, a French cycling accessories brand, appears to be preparing to launch a new pedal platform on the market. The brand is known for its helmets, glasses and shoes, which are frequent features in the professional peloton.
The new pedals were seen being used by the Nice Métropole Côte d’Azur and Burgos BH teams. What stands out about these pedals is that the pedal length seems significantly longer than other pedals available on the market.
Innovative Longer Pedals
It is evident from the images that have emerged from Nice Métropole Côte d’Azur’s Instagram that they are of a completely new design, moving away from the profile of a Shimano/Look pedal.
Jean-Christophe Rattel, CEO of Ekoi, told lecycle.fr: “These are new pedals with a new concept, it is an innovation that makes me dream because compared to other pedals on the market, we tested a gain of eight watts.”
Improved Cycling Performance
Jean-Christophe Rattel revealed that the new pedal system has a reported height of 8mm, making it one of the lowest profile pedals on the market and ideal for cyclists looking for all the extra benefits when pedaling.
The most notable savings from this new combination are the eight watt savings revealed by the manufacturer. However, a savings of eight watts would not be considered a marginal gain, more a truly significant gain.
