Primoz Roglic will compete in three stage races before the Tour de France in 2024. With a calendar focused exclusively on this main goal, the BORA–Hansgrohe cyclist has chosen to set aside any secondary goals for the season.
On Wednesday, Bora-Hansgrohe will reveal its main objectives for the season during a presentation in Mallorca, Spain, but it seems that Roglic will forgo any idea of competing in the Spring Classics, as he concentrates entirely on his preparation for the Tour de France.
This strategy follows the successful approach of 2023, where he participated only in stage races before and between the Grand Tours, aiming to achieve the best possible form for the Tour de France. The information was reported by journalist Daniel Benson from the GCN channel.
Starting with Paris-Nice
The Slovenian cyclist will begin the season competing in Paris-Nice, where he secured the title in 2022. Next, he will participate in the Itzulia Basque Country, where he will face his former teammate Jonas Vingegaard, the current champion of the Basque race, for the first time.
Later on, Roglic, Vingegaard, and Evenepoel will meet at the Criterium du Dauphiné. While Pogacar will be recovering from the Giro d’Italia, the other three main contenders for the Tour de France will compete in the Criterium du Dauphiné, which traditionally serves as a test to assess the cyclists’ form before the grand event.
Primoz Roglic’s race program:
- Paris-Nice (March 3-10)
- Itzulia Basque Country (April 1-6)
- Criterium du Dauphiné (June 2-9)
- Tour de France (June 29 – July 21)
