Remco Evenepoel took advantage of Monday to rest. He spent half an hour riding on the training roller and also set aside time for an online press conference. During the interview, he initially looked ahead to Tuesday’s time trial.
This time trial is comparable to the time trial Evenepoel won in the Vuelta last year, although it was about 5 kilometers longer. On that occasion, he defeated Primoz Roglic by 48 seconds.
“I haven’t explored the time trial,” Evenepoel said. “Firstly because the route doesn’t seem very technical to me, and secondly because it was difficult to travel there. I had to fly to Madrid and then catch another domestic flight, making it a long journey. We know what to expect.”
