Bäckstedt was recently welcomed into the Red Bull family by Pidcock, who has long been backed by the energy drink brand.

Tom Pidcock surprised his compatriot, current U23 World Time Trial Champion, who was having dinner, by presenting her with a new helmet with Red Bull print. “Sorry to interrupt your meal. But the deal is that you will have to wear this for the rest of the meal,” joked Pidcock as he handed the helmet to Backstedt. The surprise provoked laughter from the young cyclist who, overcome with emotion, could not contain her tears.
