A stage that promises a battle on two fronts. A fight between escapees and once again among the classification men in the 163.2 km planned for this Wednesday. Flat terrain for almost the entire route from Lerma, the starting location, but with a climb at the end, the beautiful “La Laguna Negra,” which can wreak havoc on the general classification.
As is traditional in the Vuelta, the final part of the climb is particularly tough. According to the route, the ascent has an average gradient of 6.8% over 6.5 kilometers, with the incline gradually increasing. However, the final half-kilometer averages about ten percent. Here, an attack among the leaders can lead to significant differences.
