Zaragoza is the fifth largest city in Spain and has often been a stage for the Vuelta in the past, although the last time was fifteen years ago.
In a relatively flat and short stage, covering a total of 150 km, the breakaway will have a chance before the formidable Tourmalet the following day. A relatively easy climb 40 km before the finish could determine the stage victory. However, the major challenge might be the wind. Strong crosswinds are characteristic of this region and can split the peloton.
