Urgent! Jumbo Visma cyclist hit by car during training.

Thomas Gloag, the promising British cyclist of the Jumbo-Visma team, will face a period of inactivity throughout 2023. Unfortunately, he was involved in an accident while training, being hit by a vehicle that resulted in a knee injury. As part of his recovery, Gloag underwent surgery on the injured knee.

At 21 years of age, Gloag will now focus on his rehabilitation and the upcoming season, as communicated by the Jumbo-Visma team on their social media platforms.

Gloag participated in his first full season as a professional cyclist with the Jumbo-Visma team after having undergone training with the Dutch WorldTeam during the past autumn.

During his debut in the year 2023, at the Volta a València, he immediately showcased his potential by securing second place in the fourth stage and securing sixth place in the general classification. Additionally, the British cyclist took part in events like the UAE Tour and the Tour de Romandie, where he achieved the eleventh position.

Gloag then also competed in the Giro d’Italia, his first Grand Tour. He finished the stage race won by his teammate Primoz Roglic. Subsequently, he was only at the start line of the Clásica San Sebastián. Due to a knee injury, this will be his last race of the year.
