Matteo Tosatto, sports director of INEOS, has confirmed that he will take on the same role at Tudor Pro Cycling next year, ending a six-year stint with the INEOS Grenadiers. The Italian stated in an interview with the British channel GCN that he made the decision to move on for personal reasons and to seek a new challenge in the sport.
“I decided to leave because it was the best decision for me. Now I have a great opportunity to join Tudor, and that’s the best for me at this particular moment,” said the former professional cyclist.
“I had a lot of fun at INEOS over the last six years. It’s a bit disappointing to leave now, but it’s the right time. I don’t know if the team is happy about it, but as I said, it’s the best decision for me.”
“I have many great memories from the team, but probably the best for me was the 2020 Giro d’Italia that we won with Tao Geoghegan Hart. The victory in the Strade Bianche with Tom Pidcock, but my favorite memory was the 2020 Giro,” Tosatto added.
Conversation with Fabian Cancellara
“I decided to go to Tudor because I talked to them many times and had conversations with Fabian Cancellara. They have had a great program for many years, and the big step in 2024 is entering a grand tour, perhaps the Giro d’Italia. They are ready for the first grand tour and are awaiting a wildcard,” Tosatto concluded.
