Tom Pidcock is not at the European Road Championships; the British rider has opted for different plans this weekend, as he will be participating in the Olympic Mountain Bike Test Event in Paris alongside Mathieu Van der Poel.
Both of them will be testing the course as part of their preparation for the event next year, where they are both expected to compete, with Pidcock being the current champion. The INEOS Grenadiers cyclist has participated in some MTB races this season to maintain his ranking successfully, recently winning the World Championship in Glasgow. He will also compete in the U.S. World Cup races on the following two weekends in Snowshoe and Mont-Saint-Anne, respectively.
Mathieu Van der Poel is already in Paris, as seen in this video, where he tests one of the course’s climbs, showcasing his distinctive MVDP style.
