Tobias Foss has successfully completed his transfer from Jumbo-Visma to the INEOS Grenadiers. The Norwegian rider, who won the World Time Trial Championship in 2022, had been in negotiations with the British team for some time. The move had previously been speculated earlier this year but was put on hold due to developments surrounding Remco Evenepoel.
Alongside Foss, Carlos Verona (Movistar Team) was also linked to the British team but chose to sign with Lidl-Trek when negotiations with the INEOS Grenadiers were put on hold.
At the INEOS Grenadiers, Foss aims to further focus on time trial racing, working alongside time trial specialist Filippo Ganna and taking advantage of Pinarello’s experience and bikes. The time trial at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris is expected to be one of the Norwegian’s major goals.
The Renewi Tour may have been Foss’s final race for Jumbo-Visma. “My body is tired,” he told the Norwegian GD this week. “I have certain values that are too high. I tried to train normally, but I fell back again. So, I had to take some breaks. I haven’t found the right balance between training and rest yet,” Foss concluded.
