Called up by coach Thomas Voeckler to compete in the European Road Championship, which will take place on Sunday between Assen and Col du VAM, Benoît Cosnefroy (AG2R Citroën team) will be absent due to illness – “a condition similar to the flu,” as announced by the French Cycling Federation (FFC) on their Twitter account.
The third-place finisher in the 2021 European Championship will be replaced by a cyclist who has recently shown very positive performances, Anthony Turgis. He finished second in the Super 8 Classic on Saturday, behind world champion Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), demonstrating his abilities to shine on the Dutch course.
Therefore, the French team will be present in the Netherlands next Sunday with the following cyclists: Christophe Laporte (Jumbo-Visma), Arnaud Démare, Clément Russo, Matîs Louvel (Team Arkéa-Samsic), Axel Zingle (Cofidis), Florian Sénéchal (Soudal Quick-Step), and Sandy Dujardin (TotalEnergies).
