The ProSeries category competition, scheduled for February 10, has already confirmed the participation of Mathieu van der Poel. The final route has been extended, now featuring four laps in the final circuit, totaling 221 km.
“Compared to last year, where we had three laps in the final circuit, this time we will have four. The suggestion came from some sponsors and also some World Tour teams. The beauty of that circuit is the main reason,” revealed Carlos Pereira, director of “Figueira Champions/Casino Figueira,” to the Portuguese newspaper O JOGO, regarding the changes in the route.
Challenging Altitude Profile
The altitude profile will be challenging for the participants, resembling a traditional European classic. In the first 103 km, until the final circuit, cyclists will face ascents such as Alto do Calvete (1.6 km at 3.9%), Eleclerc (3.2 km at 5.3%), Porto Gordinho (1.2 km at 5.2%), Alto Saltadouro (3.2 km at 5.1%), Seiça (0.8 km at 9.7%), Serra Castro (3.6 km at 2.3%), and Vila Verde (1 km at 6.5%).
Final Circuit
However, the most thrilling moments will occur in the final circuit during the remainder of the race, with the four passages on Rua do Parque Florestal (2.1 km climb, 8% average, and 16.5% maximum) and the ascent of Enforca Cães (0.9 km at 7.3% and 10.3% maximum).
