The closure of GCN+ will have significant impacts on cycling enthusiasts in the United States. The broadcasting rights for cycling competitions belong to Warner Bros. With the shift from Discovery to their new streaming service Max, the costs will be considerably higher.
Cost will now be $220
American viewers who were previously tuned into GCN+ will now have to migrate to Max to continue watching cycling, track cycling, and Mountain Bike broadcasts. The Giro d’Italia, Women’s WorldTour, UCI MTB World Series, UCI Track Champions League, and various spring classics will be available there starting in 2024.
However, the cost to watch these races will be substantially higher compared to GCN+ for cycling fans in the United States. They will be required to purchase a regular Max subscription in addition to an extra broadcast package. In the first year, the cycling package can still be selected for free with an annual subscription of $100. However, after the first year, an annual Max subscription, including the sports package, will cost $220.
