EF Education – EasyPost has stood out as one of the successful teams so far in 2023. With standout performers like Ben Healy and Neilson Powless, who shone in the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France respectively, team leader Jonathan Vaughters is eager to maintain the momentum during the upcoming Vuelta a España.
“The team has performed very well throughout the year, but it’s a bit odd because we haven’t had our top-level rider for the entire year,” Vaughters said in an interview with GCN Racing, referring to the absence of Richard Carapaz.
“We will have Hugh Carthy and Marijn van den Berg there, and the team really believes in the selection. Marijn is very fast, so he adds a real focus for us,” he continues. “He has had three wins so far this year, but he has also shown that he can climb very well, and he’s a unique rider in that regard. The team’s focus will be on pursuing stage wins, primarily through Marijn.”
