The British cyclist Tao Geoghegan Hart, 28 years old, suffered a serious crash during the Giro d’Italia and broke his left hip. After a lengthy recovery, he is now back on his bike. He shared details of one of his early rides on social media.
“It’s been a hectic few months,” Hart wrote in his post. “Almost every day, I was in the gym and on the physio table. After all that work, I’m happy to be back on the bike and (surprisingly) feeling pretty good again. I’m grateful for having been able to spend time with special people over the past few months to break up the daily routine of rehab. Thanks to everyone around me for the support.”
Recovery in the Netherlands
Hart spent a lot of time in the Netherlands for his recovery. The rehabilitation process was in the hands of a doctor from Amsterdam who also treats football players in his clinic.
British Rider Leaving INEOS Grenadiers
Hart is still under contract with INEOS Grenadiers until the end of 2023. However, the winner of the 2020 Giro d’Italia has signed a three-year contract with Lidl-Trek.
