UAE Team Emirates is determined to regain hegemony in the Tour de France over its rival, Visma-Lease a Bike and to achieve this, in addition to the team’s talents, it is betting on a great reinforcement: Pavel Sivakov.
The 26-year-old recently transferred from Ineos Grenadiers to UAE Team Emirates, and his first challenge with the new team is the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. This will be a test for Sivakov and his team, who are eager to take on the competitive Visma-Lease a Bike.
Sivakov: a new breath of fresh air for the UAE Emirates team
In his first statements to the Spanish media, Sivakov does not hide his excitement about wearing the UAE Emirates shirt. The cyclist, who signed a contract until 2026, believes that his presence can strengthen the team and increase the chances of victory in the next challenges.
“Of course it is possible to beat Visma. We have the cyclists for this and we will do our best from day one,” she declares. Controlling expectations, the young man still says: “I’m going to fight for the lead. This is my first race of the season and we’ll see how the legs are. We have a great team, but training is one thing and racing is another”, ponders Sivakov.
Welcome change: a new chapter in Sivakov’s career
The move to UAE Emirates represents a new beginning for Sivakov, who spent six years at Ineos. The cyclist describes the change as a necessity in his career, bringing him an awakening similar to that of a newly professional cyclist.
“I am really happy. I needed a change after six years, I needed something new. I feel a bit like a new professional,” she says. Sivakov hopes to be able to contribute significantly to the team’s performance in the upcoming competitions, helping teammates such as Pogacar, Ayuso and João Almeida, especially in the medium and high mountain races.
