According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tadej Pogacar will also be competing in the Tour de France in 2024. Last Sunday, the organizing team of the Giro d’Italia announced the Slovenian cyclist’s participation in next year’s edition, confirming his presence in both competitions.
Unique competition schedule
This will be the first time Pogacar competes in two Grand Tours in a year. In his debut professional year in 2019, he participated only in the Vuelta a España. In the following years, he exclusively rode the Tour de France with success, winning in Paris in 2020 and 2021. In the last two seasons, he was surpassed by his Danish rival Jonas Vingegaard and his Jumbo-Visma team.

The Giro d’Italia concludes next year on May 26. Pogacar then has about five weeks to prepare for the Tour de France, which starts on June 30 in Italy. The Grand Départ takes place in Florence.
Incidentally, in 1998 was the last time a cyclist managed to win both the Giro and the Tour in the same year. Marco Pantani achieved the double victory 25 years ago. In 2018, Chris Froome finished third in the Tour after winning the Giro. In that same year, Tom Dumoulin finished second in both competitions.
