Matteo Tosatto has announced his departure from the position of sports director at the INEOS Grenadiers team after a seven-year tenure. The news was shared by GCN journalist Daniel Benson on his social media platforms. After this season, the 49-year-old Italian will move on to the Swiss team Tudor Pro Cycling, which has high ambitions in the world of cycling.
Since retiring from cycling, Tosatto has served as a sports director for Team Sky, which later became the INEOS Grenadiers. Prior to that, Tosatto had a racing career spanning twenty years, competing for teams such as Fassa Bortolo, Quick-Step-Innergetic, Saxo Bank, and Tinkoff, among others. He concluded his career with the Tinkoff team at the end of 2016, during which he won stages in both the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia.
Tosatto is switching from INEOS Grenadiers to the Swiss team Tudor. In the Swiss ProTeam, Fabian Cancellara is the owner and has recently made significant investments in team strengthening. Riders like Matteo Trentin and Alberto Dainese, among others, have been signed and will start with the new team in 2024.
Next year, the Tudor team hopes to be invited to the most important classics of the season, and a debut in a Grand Tour is also not ruled out.
