Today, the Soudal Quick-Step team for 2024 was presented in Calpe, Spain. The most attention was, of course, on Remco Evenepoel. His entire competition program was also revealed. The Belgian champion starts the season as expected in Portugal; however, it will not be in the Volta ao Algarve.
Start at the Figueira Champions Classic
Rumors had been circulating for some time, but now it’s official. The Belgian champion will kick off the season at the Figueira Champions Classic on February 10, followed quickly by the Volta ao Algarve, where he will face Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel.
Then, Evenepoel will move on to Paris-Nice. After a brief break from competitions, which will likely involve an altitude Training Camp, he will compete in Itzulia Basque Country, where he’ll have the first showdown against Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic.
Spring Classics and Criterium du Dauphiné
Evenepoel is expected to participate in the three Ardennes classics, Amstel Gold Race, Flèche Wallone, and Liège-Bastogne-Liége. Shortly after, another encounter between Remco Evenepoel and the Vingegaard/Roglic duo in the Criterium du Dauphiné, followed by the traditional preparation for the Tour de France.
The Olympic Games and the World Championship are also naturally on his schedule, and he is expected to compete in both the road race and the Time Trial in both events. Check out Remco Evenepoel’s complete calendar for 2024.
