The second stage of the Skoda Tour de Luxembourg was won by Jenthe Biermans (Team Arkéa Samsic). The Belgian cyclist proved stronger than Søren Kragh Andersen (Alpecin Deceuninck) and Tim van Dijke (Jumbo-Visma) in a fast finish with a slight incline. Thanks to the bonus seconds, Kragh Andersen took over the leader’s jersey from Corbin Strong.
With 15 kilometers to go, after several attacks and counterattacks, Tudor Pro Cycling closed the final gap and remained in control thereafter. After a descent, the Swiss team disappeared from the front, and the peloton stretched out in a long line. This prompted an attack by Julian Alaphilippe. The Frenchman didn’t manage to escape, but more attacks followed. That’s when Richard Carapaz attempted to break away.
However, no one could create a significant gap, so Søren Kragh Andersen launched a long-range attack. The Danish rider saw Tim van Dijke approaching his side, but the Dutchman didn’t pass. Jenthe Biermans did. The Belgian from Arkéa-Samsic sprinted to his second victory of the season, having previously won the Muscat Classic in Oman in February.
