The Skoda Tour de Luxembourg started with a 1st stage of 156 kilometers in a hilly area with climbs like Montée de Putscheid (2.4 km at 8.9%), Côte de Bourschied (3.5 km at 7.2%), and Côte de Eschdorf (3 km at 7%). The finale was animated by the Côte de Stafelter (1.8 km at 7.9%) and Kirchberg (1.6 km at 6.3%).
The 1st stage was decided in a final sprint after a series of attacks and counterattacks. Felix Gall was caught two kilometers before the finish. The next attack came from Richard Carapaz, but the Soudal Quickstep team kept everything under control. It turned into a sprint at the top of Kirchberg. Corbin Strong (Israel-Premier Tech) accelerated strongly and finished ahead of Soren Kragh Andersen (Alpecin Deceuninck) and Alex Aranburu (Movistar Team), who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
