On the next Tuesday, Sepp Kuss will depart as the leader in the classification for the final week of the Vuelta a España. During the fifteenth stage to Lekunberri, the American cyclist from Team Jumbo-Visma completed the race in the main peloton.
Kuss expressed his expectations in the interview zone, stating, “The definitive conquest of the red jersey in Madrid is getting closer and closer.” However, he also emphasized the importance of the third week, highlighting the need to stay focused and ensure a good recovery.
Kuss eagerly awaits the final week.
Kuss has been wearing the red jersey for 8 stages now. “I’m gradually getting used to it,” he admits. If he wants to maintain his lead, he must also survive the challenging mountain stages ahead. “I’m looking forward to the third week, especially given how I’m feeling right now. It’s always very tough in the Asturias, perhaps the hardest climbs in the world. It won’t be easy in this last week.”
Jumbo-Visma expects attacks from their rivals.
“They will certainly try at any moment,” the American anticipates. “But as long as the three of us can respond, it’s okay. And if one person can’t keep up, there are still two left. That’s the advantage of our numbers. But the other teams will certainly attack.”
