Richard Carapaz proved to be in great form at the start of the season, winning the Ecuadorian Time Trial Championship this Thursday, beating last year’s champion, Jonathan Caicedo (Petrolike), who finished in third place, a minute behind Carapaz. Jefferson Cepeda (Caja-Rural RGA Seguros) took the silver medal, 45 seconds behind the champion.
Second title of Contrarrelógio
For the winner of the 2019 Giro d’Italia, it was his second national Time Trial title. It happened after traveling around 40 km in Riobamba. “Today was my first feeling of joy of the season. I know I’m already doing well and that motivates me for what’s yet to come,” says Carapaz in his team’s press release.
