Rémi Cavagna will make his debut with the Movistar Team next year. The 28-year-old Frenchman already has his schedule set for the early months of 2024, and he will debut with the Spanish team at the Volta ao Algarve, taking place from February 14 to 18.
Rémi Cavagna revealed his schedule in a conversation with the French newspaper La Montagne. After the season debut in Portugal, Cavagna heads to the Middle East for the UAE Tour (February 19 to 25). The cyclist will also participate in the start of Paris-Nice (March 3 to 10) and the Volta a Catalunya (March 18 to 24). Cavagna hopes to prepare for the spring classics in these stage races.
For Cavagna, the spring of 2024 will be a time to “discover” the cobblestone classics. “Paris-Roubaix will be a pleasant discovery. It’s a race that attracts me. I would like to start without any pressure to see what I can do. It’s been a long time since I rode on cobblestones.”
Rémi Cavagna is focusing on the Tour of Flanders (March 31) and, consequently, Paris-Roubaix (April 7). “But I would like to compete in one or two Semi-classics before these competitions. It’s good to feel the cobblestones again in a slightly less important race, like Gent-Wevelgem,” he believes.
The Tour de France will be the main target in 2024. After Paris-Roubaix, there will be a brief period of rest and training, after which Cavagna hopes to prepare for the Tour de France (June 29 to July 21). He will do this through the Tour de Romandie (April 23 to 28) and the Critérium du Dauphiné (June 2 to 9).
