Primož Roglič is highly confident for the upcoming edition of the Vuelta a España. Last Saturday, he secured the overall leadership in the Vuelta a Burgos, showcasing his superiority by convincingly winning the final sprint against three other cyclists in the concluding stage towards Lagunas de Neila. “I am pleased to have achieved this goal,” a triumph coincidentally accomplished a week prior to the start of the Vuelta in Barcelona.

“Despite another hot day, I felt good. As a team, we always had the stage under control. In the end, it was up to me to make the final effort,” said the Slovenian cyclist.
Above all, the Vuelta a Burgos was a preparatory race for him leading up to the Vuelta a España. “It was a pleasure to race here,” Roglič said. “The spectators along the way were fantastic. Moreover, it was good to have a few kilometers of competition in the legs, heading towards the Vuelta this week. I came here to improve a bit, and I think I managed to do so.”
Sports director also confident
“This was a good dress rehearsal,” sports director Marc Reef said. “The main goal was to take the final steps towards the Vuelta a España this week, and we achieved that. The temperatures, the route, and the racing style are comparable to what will follow later.”

“The cyclists who are going to compete in the Vuelta also showed that they are prepared. Jan Tratnik had a long rehabilitation but showed a very high level here. We won the team time trial, two stages, and the overall classification. We can only be satisfied with that,” Reef concluded.
