Primoz Roglic dedicates Giro dell’Emilia victory in a special way

For the third time in his career, Primoz Roglic triumphed at the Giro dell’Emilia. Speaking after the victory, the Slovenian thanked his family for their support during a tumultuous period.

“This is very cool. It’s an old and iconic race, with the climb to the Basilica of San Luca,” Roglic said in the post-race interview. “I really like it. And it’s always nice to finish. Plus, I love Mortadella!” the 33-year-old laughed, referring to the characteristic prize of the Italian race.

On a day when the current Giro d’Italia champion ended months of speculation by confirming his imminent departure from Jumbo-Visma, Roglic ensured that at least one of the headlines would be about his performance on the bike as he triumphed in a sprint against names like Tadej Pogacar and Simon Yates.

It was very tough. I went for it and had the legs to finish,” said Roglic, who dedicated the victory to his family. “They always support me. In good times, but especially in bad times. They’re not here now, but they always cheer for me.
