The Spanish ProTour team Caja Rural – Seguros RGA announced the contract extension of two of its key leaders for the next two seasons. The contracts of Iuri Leitão and Jefferson Cepeda have been extended until 2025, ensuring that the duo continues to lead in their specific areas.
Iuri Leitão, 25 years old, has been competing for Caja Rural-Seguros RGA since 2022 and is currently the team’s primary sprinter. In his debut season, the sprinter won a stage in the Ronde de l’Oise (2.2), and in the second year, he stepped up his game, winning in three opportunities: one stage in the CRO Race Croatia, one in the Tour of Hellas (Greece), and the overall classification of the Greek competition.
The Portuguese cyclist also competes on the track and aims to win the Omnium at the Paris Olympics. He is the current World Champion in that discipline.
Cepeda also renewed
For Jefferson Cepeda, 2023 was his fourth full season with the Spanish team. The 27-year-old Ecuadorian started the year well with two silver medals in national championships. After that, there were no truly significant results, although the climber still managed to finish tenth in the opening stage of the Ruta del Sol and tenth in the stage of the Vuelta a Javalambre, which was won by Sepp Kuss.
