Maciej Bodnar has decided to end his career at the age of 38. Bodnar had a successful career for almost 17 years, being an 8-time Polish Time Trial Champion, in addition to winning a stage at the Tour de France in 2017.
In a farewell post on X, Bodnar reminisces about his cycling career. “Cycling is a wonderful sport. It has given me a lot. It has given me the opportunity to meet fantastic people and see something of the world.”
“Bicycling has also taught me how much I can take from life. But cycling also has a dark side. Few sports demand as much from an athlete. Cycling is based on sacrifice.”
Start in 2007
Bodnar began his career in 2007 with the now-defunct Liquigas and stayed there for just over seven seasons. During those years, he was part of the winning team in the Giro d’Italia (2010) and the Tour de France (2014).
At Liquigas, he served leaders like Vincenzo Nibali, Ivan Basso, and Peter Sagan. After that period, he was with Tinkoff-Saxo, BORA-hansgrohe, and finally TotalEnergies.
