Peter Sagan has concluded his career in elite road cycling but aims to shine in mountain biking during his retirement year. Seeking to qualify for the Mountain Bike Olympic competition in Paris, the Slovak cyclist plans to participate in the required MTB races in 2024.
In an interview with cycling journalist Lukáš Ronald Lukács, he details his competition schedule.

His debut in Mountain Biking in 2024 is scheduled for February 11th in Abu Dhabi, following a training period in South Africa. Next, he plans to participate in MTB competitions in Chelva, Spain (February 17-18), Banyoles (February 24-25), and Marseille (March 16-17).
After these four races, a brief transition is planned for road races, involving four smaller competitions (1.2) in Slovenia.
In these races, he will represent the Slovak RRK Group-Pierre Baguette-Benzinol team. In these races, he will work for his brother Juraj, who will play the role of captain.
The rest of the calendar includes an event in Brazil in 2024.
After these competitions, the three-time road world champion will return to Mountain Biking to participate in the six World Cup qualifiers leading up to the Olympic Cross Country competition in Paris. This preparation block includes two stages in Brazil, Mairiporã and Araxá.
Peter Sagan will be present at the following stages of the World Cup:
- Mairiporã (April 12th to 14th)
- Araxá (April 19th to 21st)
- Nové Město na Moravě (May 24th to 26th)
- Val di Sole (June 14th to 16th)
- Crans-Montana (June 21st to 23rd)
- Haute-Savoie (June 28th to 30th).
