Mauri Vansevenant will continue with Soudal Quick-Step in the upcoming years. The 24-year-old Belgian climber has extended his contract for three seasons and will be tied to Patrick Lefevere’s team until the end of 2026.
Vansevenant turned professional with the Belgian team in July 2020 after delivering strong performances in the ranks of professional cyclist development. In 2022, he continued his promising trajectory with several strong performances, winning the queen stage of the Tour of Oman and finishing just one second behind the overall winner, Matteo Jorgenson, in the final classification of that race. Vansevenant seemed poised for a successful spring season, but a knee injury set him back.
Now, free from knee problems, Vansevenant can restart his promising career. “Being able to sign for another three years is a sign of confidence. I’ve been able to develop very well with this great team, and I hope to continue doing so. I want to keep growing, working, and performing.”
Patrick Lefevere doesn’t hide his satisfaction with the young rider. “Mauri has grown tremendously in three years. He has already achieved a series of significant victories but has also impressed with his commitment to the team. Mauri always works hard and has a unique style on the bike. We are happy that he will stay with us for another three years.”
