Movistar suddenly has twenty cyclists on their roster for 2024. The Spanish team announced twelve contract extensions this morning. This includes Nelson Oliveira, Fernando Gaviria, Iván Garcia Cortina, and Einer Rubio.
Iván Garcia Cortina and Einer Rubio have signed contracts until 2026, as have Mathias Norsgaard and Gonzalo Serrano. Gaviria will stay with the Spanish team until the end of 2024. This also applies to Johan Jacobs and Albert Torres. Extended until the end of 2025 are: Will Barta, Gregor Mühlberger, Jorge Arcas, Antonio Pedrero, and Nelson Oliveira.
Brazilian Vinícius Rangel with an ongoing contract
Eight riders already had existing contracts. They are: Vinícius Rangel, Alex Aranburu, Oier Lazkano, Iván Sosa, Sergio Samitier (all until 2024), Ruben Guerreiro, Iván Romeo, and Enric Mas (all until 2025).
Who’s leaving and who’s arriving
Gorka Izagirre (Cofidis), Matteo Jorgenson (Jumbo-Visma), Max Kanter (Astana Qazaqstan Team), and Carlos Verona (Lidl-Trek) will be in new teams next year, while Imanol Erviti is retiring. The future of Abner González, Juri Hollmann, Lluís Mas, Óscar Rodríguez, and José Joaquín Rojas is still unknown. The news for next year will be announced in the coming days, Movistar said in a press release.
