Milan-San Remo will not have its start in Milan this year. The season-opening classic will be moved to Pavia in 2024, as reported by the Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.
Pavia
Pavia is a city with about 80,000 inhabitants, 35 kilometers south of Milan. This is not the first time that “La Primavera” has bypassed Milan as a starting point. Last year, cyclists began the Italian classic in Abbiategrasso, twenty kilometers west of Milan.
Possibly a longer distance
As the start is now in Pavia, according to HLN, there is a possibility that the cyclists may have to cover an even greater distance to the finish this year. Last year, Mathieu Van der Poel won after covering 294 kilometers.
