The incident occurred when Lopez was leaving his farm in Pesca, in the Boyacá region of Colombia. The Team Medellín cyclist ended up in the hands of kidnappers for more than 3 hours, according to the Colombian website winsports.
According to authorities in the Boyacá department, the Colombian cyclist was the victim of a robbery on the afternoon of Thursday, September 21, as he was leaving his farm in the rural area of Pesca. Three men approached him and threatened him with firearms. The criminals stole 800,000 Colombian pesos and an SUV in which he was traveling.
