Mark Padun will compete for the Corratec-Selle Italia team next year. Although he still had a valid contract with EF Education-EasyPost, the Ukrainian cyclist chose to leave the American team ahead of schedule. Now, he has officially signed a one-year contract with his new Italian team, ProTeam Corratec-Selle Italia.
New challenge in Italy
“I am ready to face this new challenge,” declares the 27-year-old Padun.
“It’s good to return to Italy, where I raced when I was young. I think the Italian calendar suits me. There are many tough and selective races where I hope to contribute to the team. I want to do well and thank the team management for this new opportunity and for making me feel at home.”
Padun rose to prominence in 2021 by winning two mountain stages at the Critérium du Dauphiné. In the same season, he secured third place in the Vuelta a Burgos. In early 2022, he claimed his latest victory to date in the Gran Camiño Time Trial.
Although he experienced a period without significant results since then, Padun had a brief resurgence this year in the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, finishing fourth in the overall classification.
