The new road cycling season has already kicked off in Australia. In Mount Helen, a suburb south of Ballarat, Luke Plapp won the Australian Time Trial Championship.
At 23 years old, Plapp, recognized for his versatility and significant potential, clocked an impressive finishing time of 46 minutes and 19 seconds over a distance of 37.5 km. He was over half a minute faster than his Jayco AlUla teammate, Chris Harper. Michael Hepburn secured the third position. Thus, Jayco AlUla ensured a complete podium in Australia.
First victory with the new team
This was Plapp’s first competition for Jayco AlUla after leaving the INEOS Grenadiers. It marks Plapp’s second Australian Time Trial title among the professionals. In 2021, the cyclist was crowned as the best Time Trialist in his country.
