Lotto Dstny has renewed the contract with its main domestique, the cyclist who has been with the team for 12 years

Jasper De Buyst, 29 years old, still had a contract until the end of 2024, but now he has signed an extension until the end of 2026. He plays an important role as the main character in Arnaud De Lie’s sprint train but also aims to pursue his own success.

12 years with Lotto Dstny

“At the end of this new contract, it will be twelve consecutive seasons with the team, an absolute record in the team’s history,” De Buyst stated on the Lotto Dstny website. He has been representing the Belgian selection since 2015. “It says a lot about the cooperation of recent years and is a demonstration of trust for the future. Of course, twelve years is a long time, but why change if things are going well in a place?”

“Arnaud De Lie’s right-hand man

De Buyst will be responsible for Arnaud De Lie’s lead-out train in the coming years, who also has a contract with the team until the end of 2026. But he also has personal ambitions. ‘With Arnaud De Lie, we have an absolute star at Lotto Dstny. I’m looking forward to passing on my experience and making Arnaud a better cyclist. It will be a fun challenge to help him with that.’

‘But in one of my best seasons so far, I also came to the conclusion that I can still achieve great results. I’ll be happy to take on the role of team captain in the coming years. Of course, I want to win a few more races. I want to prove myself out there, both for the team and personally.'”

Stéphane Heulot, CEO of Lotto Dstny, is pleased with De Buyst’s extended stay on the team. “Jasper is one of the most experienced riders on the team and has proven his worth countless times. That’s why we’re very happy that the collaboration is being extended.”

“As a crucial element in the sprint train, Jasper has already contributed to many team victories, and we are convinced that many more will follow. He is not only a valuable teammate, but Jasper can also stand his ground and achieve his own results.”
