Lidl-Trek continues its recruitment efforts, this time bringing in an Italian rider who previously held the green jersey in the Vuelta a España.

Following a series of recent signings including Tao Geoghegan Hart, Andrea Bagioli, Simone Consonni, Patrick Konrad, and Jonathan Milan, the team has now confirmed the addition of Fabio Felline. Notably, Felline is no stranger to the squad, having been a member for six years (2014-2019).

After spending four seasons with Astana Qazaqstan, 33-year-old Felline is returning to the team that witnessed his most glorious years, including his victory of the green jersey (points classification) at the 2016 Vuelta a España and stage wins in the 2015 Tour of the Basque Country and the 2017 Tour de Romandie.

“I feel it as a homecoming,” says Fabio Felline, who has signed a one-year contract. “The connection with this team, with this group of people, has never been broken, especially on a personal level. When the option to return came up, it was a pleasant surprise, and I immediately said yes. At this stage of my career, the opportunity to come back here was the best thing that could have happened to me. I will bring my experience to the younger riders.”

Luca Guercilena, General Manager of Lidl-Trek, welcomed Fabio Felline back. “It’s a pleasure for us to have Fabio back in the Lidl-Trek family. He formed deep bonds with the team and the riders during his six years with us, many of whom are still with the team. This time, his role within the team will be different. He will act as a road captain, using his experience to manage situations within the race. With a familiar environment and an ambitious project as motivation, we look forward to seeing Fabio give his best for us.”
