Olav Kooij celebrated his birthday with an impressive victory in the sixth and final stage of the 2023 Tour of Guangxi in China. His Jumbo-Visma teammate, Milan Vader, secured the overall race win.
After another successful capture of all attackers by the peloton, the day’s excitement was decided by a final sprint. Kooij emerged as the winner in a fiercely contested finish, overtaking names like Juan Sebastian Molano, who won the 5th stage, and others in a jump.
For Vader, the overall victory had already been practically assured for a few days, but he held his position firmly and, in doing so, secured the overall victory in his last World Tour race of this season.
