Jumbo-Visma team manager confirms Primoz Roglic’s departure

Primoz Roglic may have had his last victory in the Jumbo-Visma colors as he will be with another team starting from next season. He confirmed this before the start of the Giro dell’Emilia, where he won convincingly. Richard Plugge, CEO of Roglic’s team, responded to the departure of the three-time Vuelta a España winner.

“Primoz will forever remain in my heart as our king,” said the Jumbo-Visma team boss on the team’s website. “We are very grateful to him for the upward path we have traveled together. I will always admire him on a personal level. However, there comes a time when the best choice is to part ways.”

“He recently submitted a transfer request. We understand his request, and we have a lot of respect for each other not to stand in each other’s way. We’ve given him the green light, just like we did with Dylan Groenewegen.” Jumbo-Visma allowed Groenewegen to move to Team BikeExchange after 2021, even though the sprinter still had a contract with the Dutch team.

Primoz Roglic will race for Jumbo-Visma at least two more times. Next Tuesday, he will compete in the Tre Valli Varesine, and then he will conclude his eighth and final season with the Dutch team at Il Lombardia on Saturday, October 7th.
