According to information from the Norwegian channel TV2, the Jumbo-Visma team has secured the hiring of Espen Aareskjold. Although the Norwegian coach was of interest to the Soudal Quick-Step team, according to TV2, he made the decision to join the Jumbo-Visma team after working for a long period at Uno-X.
Aareskjold has a strong reputation in the Scandinavian cycling community and has a history of working with young talents, including Per Strand Hagenes and Kristoffer Halvorsen, both of whom became world champions in youth categories. Additionally, he was responsible for coaching promising brothers Markus and Daniel Holgaard, Frederik Dversnes, as well as brothers Tobias and Anders Halland Johannessen.
Aareskjold is known for his scientific approach to coaching, and he played a crucial role in the development of talented rider Strand Hagenes, who is set to join the Jumbo-Visma WorldTeam from 2024.

While Aareskjold has chosen not to confirm his move to the Jumbo-Visma team, TV2 interviewed Jens Haugland, the manager of Uno-X team. Haugland confirmed that Aareskjold is indeed leaving. He commented, “This is a significant opportunity for Espen and recognition for our team. It also represents an important chance for the team to think more broadly.” Haugland also announced that Stig Kristiansen will take on the role of “Performance Director” for the team.
