Julian Alaphilippe has revealed his first race in 2024, and the Frenchman is set to reprise an event from 2014

The two-time world champion, Julian Alaphilippe, will make his first appearance in 2024 in January at Australia’s most significant race, the Tour Down Under, which will take place between January 16 and 21.

The reigning world champion of Imola and Leuven has only participated in the Tour Down Under once in his career, and that was in his first professional year in 2014. As a neo-professional, Alaphilippe secured the 68th position in the final classification of the Australian stage race. He finished in fourth place in the youth ranking that year.

It’s been almost ten years, and Alaphilippe will return to the Tour Down Under in 2024 as an established cycling star to kick off his season. “I am very happy to start my season at the Tour Down Under. It was my first race for Quick-Step ten years ago when I was still a neo-professional.”

“I have many wonderful memories of the start, the incredible fans, and the great weather,” says the 31-year-old Alaphilippe, very excited. “I am looking forward to starting again and meeting many fans once more.”
